arrow mittens

One of the many things I've been working on lately is designing knitting patterns.  I've made more swatches in the past few months than I think I have in my entire life.  I know it sounds naive of me, but I really imagined I'd get it perfect on the first try.  Sigh... not quite.

Although my day job is in media / advertising (and I do love it), it's quite corporate.  I always feel that I'm missing an important part of myself in my work that isn't quite satisfied with that alone.  My new years resolution is to take my casual crafting to a new level and start publishing my own work. 

These arrow mittens are one of my first original designs.  However, I can't decide if I like them enough to officially release the pattern.  What do you think?

Yesterday I went to the Columbia Flower Market and then stopped by Ryantown, Rob Ryan's studio for a quick browse.  It took all of my willpower to walk out of that place empty-handed.   

needlepointing

Well, I said I've been busy didn't I?  I recently started to needlepoint.

I learned to needlepoint as a child from my Great Aunt Ju (short for Julie).  One of the things I enjoy most about craft is that learning and making are usually shared experiences passed down from one person to another.  I don't think I'll ever be able to needlepoint without thinking of her.

Why, hello!

I'm here!  Well, I never really left.  I've been absent for a very obnoxious reason.  When blogger updated a few months ago it lost the links to all of the pictures on this good 'ol blog.  So, slowly but surely I've been trying to recover what I can, and delete what I can't. 

In the meantime, I've been busy.

I went shopping at loop last weekend and took away with me some yarn that I'm itching to knit with.

 

I've also been working on a little something for myself from a Kim Hargreaves pattern.   

Now that blog is back up and working I'll be updating regularly again, so, let's be friends?
